- Consultation – Providing design ideas and aiding clients in choosing the types, colors, and layout patterns for a new tiling project or renovating the current tiling.
- Surface Preparation – Getting surfaces ready for tile installations by clearing them of all loose particles or imperfections, leveling and reinforcing the installation site, and applying sealants or waterproofing.
- Installation – Using mortar or glues and other adhesives to lay out and set tiles (e.g., wall, backsplash) to specific areas in a client’s home or business.
- Cutting and Design – Adapting to client requests, especially with irregularly shaped areas, by cutting tiles into specific shapes that follow a specific design.
- Grouting – Using grout (e.g., epoxy, colored) to fill the joints and gaps where tiles connect.
- Sealing – Protecting grout lines, as well as porous tiles (e.g., natural stone), by applying a sealant.
- Repair or Replacement – Identifying tiles with chips or those that are worn away and replacing them whenever necessary; also effecting repairs to existing tiles where possible.
- Regrouting and Resealing – Repairing, refreshing, and touching up broken or powdery grout lines as well as applying sealants to preserve grout.
- Subfloor Repair – Fixing or reinforcing the base layer underneath tiles; this is often necessary in older homes.
- Demolition – Removing older tiles to prepare for a new installation or structure.
